Shakti Gawain is a favorite author and speaker of mine who you don't seem to hear too much from anymore. Her signature book titled, Creative Visualization: Use the Power of Imagination to Create What You Want in Your Life, was first published in 1975 and it is now considered a classic within the self improvement community.
I thought of Shakti Gawain and her book the other day because I believe the power of thought is one of the greatest tools we as individuals have in manifesting our dreams.
"When we create something, we always create it first in a thought form. If we are basically positive in attitude, expecting and envisioning pleasure, satisfaction and happiness, we will attract and create people, situations, and events which conform to our positive expectations." ~ Shakti Gawain
If you decide to believe in the power of your thoughts you must become aware and responsible for what you are thinking. Since you produce somewhere in the region of close to or above 1 billion thoughts per day it can be quite difficult to really be able to review your thinking processes from moment to moment as you go through the day. So how do we harness the power of thought without becoming overwhelmed by the amount of thoughts we create?
The Keys to Creating Powerful Thought Patterns are Consistency, Bravery and Patience.
Whether you are trying to create more love in your life or greater success in the career sector of your life, the ability to monitor our thoughts is essential if we want to create anything in our lives. During your transformation process it’s important to focus on Consistency, Bravery and Patience.
Consistency
“Every time you don't follow your inner guidance, you feel a loss of energy, loss of power, a sense of spiritual deadness.” ~ Shakti Gawain
If you are thinking of arguments or unhappy aspects to your life you are draining your minds ability to help you manifest the positive things in your life. Try to rid yourself of negative thinking and thoughts of negative referencing.
I have created an exercise I do every morning when I start my day that helps me to monitor my thoughts and make sure they are positive, clear, and focused on what I am trying to manifest in my life. When I take my shower in the morning I tune into my thoughts and how I am feeling. The goal is to make sure I am not carrying over any negativity in my thinking processes.
Life is about choices and if I discover I am entertaining a negative thought or idea I must review the origins of the negative emotion. I now have the opportunity to correct my behavior, modify my thoughts and start the day with a fresh slate. Staying positive in a consistent manner really helps strengthen your ability to manifest through thought.
Bravery
"We will discover the nature of our particular genius when we stop trying to conform to our own or other people's models, learn to be ourselves, and allow our natural channel to open." ~ Shakti Gawain
You can’t be afraid of what other people might think about you. Be brave, move forward and focus on what brings you internal happiness. If other people are unhappy they will only want to bring you along for the ride. At the amusement and sometimes shock of my friends I often say out loud, “I refuse to play in your sand box”, whenever I encounter empty individuals who are devoid of any type of spiritual intuition.
In order to support my beliefs I also like to briefly meditate 1 -3 times each day. During the meditation I create positive visuals of what I am trying to accomplish. For me, it may be seeing my twitter quotes on t-shirts, or creating a loving relationship with someone. The mind is a powerful tool so use it wisely and use it in a positive way.
Patience
"When I'm trusting and being myself as fully as possible, everything in my life reflects this by falling into place easily, often miraculously." ~ Shakti Gawain
Trusting yourself takes patience. In the beginning you may fail more than you succeed because you are changing patterns of thought which you have been relying upon for many years or quite possibly decades. If you fall, go easy upon yourself. Get up and start the process all over again. You will find over time that you will become more proficient in creating positive and creative thought patterns.
We are what we think…so start cleaning up your thoughts. Police what you are saying over and over to yourself throughout the day. Hey this is work and it is not easy! Make sure each thought is positive and filled with good intentions. Simultaneously, clearly focus on manifesting your dreams. When you are on track each and every moment will, “…fall into place easily, often miraculously.
Namaste,
San Dan Yi
